Starting in 2024, all peer-reviewed papers will publish under SPE Journal, our high-impact, flagship scholarly publication. The best research in petroleum engineering will be available in one place categorized by technical discipline for easy access on our online library (OnePetro™). Our board of 7 executive editors (EEs) and over 100 associate editors (AEs) will guide this expanded journal.

This panel session, led by two of our current Executive Editors, explains the new consolidated journal with a focus on SPE’s reasons for making the change as well as how the change affects our peer-review community. This session is primarily for active technical reviewers but is helpful for all contributors to our peer-reviewed journals.

What are the benefits of consolidating our SPE journal portfolio?
How will the new journal be structured (EEs and AEs)?
How will the new journal’s scope differ from SPEJ’s current scope?
How will the peer-review process change for technical reviewers?
How will we maintain the unique voice and reputation of our current journals in the new journal?
What new opportunities does the journal present for the petroleum engineering community?
