Expanding Opportunities for Petroleum Engineers’ Careers

While in recent years the competition has been high for entry-level petroleum engineering jobs, there are some initial signs of recovery with recent global events and recovery of commodity prices. However, with the energy transition and digitalization shaping the oil and gas industry over the longer term, job requirements and competencies of petroleum engineers have changed, while decarbonization and the advent of new low carbon energy sources are also providing additional opportunities for application of their core skill sets.
