Influence of ESG on Field Scale Projects

Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) metrics are a set of standards for a company’s operations that socially conscious investors use to screen potential funding opportunities. Environmental criterion determines the impact of any activity on nature –with climate change being the most important factor for the energy industry. Social criterion represents the relationship of the organization with its stakeholders. Corporate Governance incorporates operational framework components such as executive pay, shareholders’ rights, etc. of the organization. These issues are rarely included in the discussion related to the evaluation of field projects, which bears the question, “How would the inclusion of these criteria change the way we evaluate the projects?” This SPE live event provides an opportunity to reflect on these key aspects of ESG tied to business and operational factors.
