    Karen OlsonSpeakerKaren Olson is a consulting engineer specializing in SWPM analysis in unconventionals and deepwater GOM completion designs. Previously, Karen was the Technology Director for Southwestern Energy Company.

    Ms. Olson has been a Completion/Reservoir Engineer for over 40 years, starting her career as a Frac Engineer for The Western Company of North America. She has also worked at Holditch and Associates, Mobil, and BP working Deepwater GOM, Onshore Unconventionals & Conventionals and the North Sea.

    Karen has been active with SPE and is currently the SPE Completions Technical Director.

    Karen holds a BS degree in Petroleum Engineering from LSU and a MS degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M. She has been honored as a Distinguished Alumni Graduate in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M and currently serves on the Texas A&M Petroleum Engineering Department Industry Advisory Board and the SPE Board of Directors.
    Peggy RijkenSpeakerDr. Peggy Rijken is the Chapter Manager, Geomechanics in the Chevron Technology Center, located in Houston. Peggy has 23 years of experience in geomechanics & completions and manages an organization of subject matter experts supporting development and application of well, completions and reservoir geomechanical technologies that are integral to exploration, appraisal, development, and abandonment activities. Peggy has authored and co-authored more than 50 papers and holds multiple patents. She received a PhD from UT Austin in petroleum engineering and an MSc from Delft University of Technology in Mining and Petroleum Engineering, Engineering Geology.

    Peggy has an extensive SPE volunteer history. She has served as the SPE Hydraulic Fracturing Technical Section Chair (2022) and has chaired the SPE Completions Optimization & Technology awards subcommittee. Peggy was the SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE) Program Committee Chairperson in 2019. She is the recipient of the 2019 SPE Distinguished Membership Award and is also the recipient of The University of Texas Distinguished Alumni of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering award (2015).
    Terry PalischSpeakerTerry Palisch is the vice president of technology and engineering at CARBO Ceramics in Richardson, Texas, and the 2024 SPE President. He began his career with ARCO in Alaska and Algeria, joining CARBO in 2004 where he currently leads the Research and Development team. Palisch has been an active SPE member for over 40 years, serving in various roles, including past chairman of the SPE Dallas Section, past chair of the SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE) technical program and former SPE Completions Technical Director.

    He is an SPE Distinguished Member and has received multiple SPE regional and international awards including Distinguished Service. He has coauthored more than 50 SPE technical papers and holds several patents.

    Palisch holds a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from University of Missouri Rolla (now the Missouri University of Science and Technology) where he was recently recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus.
