SPE Qatar Section | Transition to Sustainability For Net-Zero Emissions By 2050
The SPE Qatar Section hosted a panel of speakers to discuss the topic of net-zero emissions. The event was held on Oct 31, 2022 from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM (Qatar local time). Approximately 51 participants registered for the event. Panel speakers included Dr. Sina Rezaei Gomari from Teesside University, Dr. Ahmad K. Sleiti from Qatar University, Dr. Yusuf Bicer from Hamad Bin Khalifa University, and Dr. Aziz Rahman from TAMUQ. Special Thanks to Dr. Nimir Elbashir from TAMUQ for organizing and moderating the session. Mr. Jassim Al-Khori from QSPE helped in organizing the event. The event was jointly organized by QSPE, TAMUQ Flow Assurance Student Club, SPE FTS-Q Study Group, and TAMUQ. Speakers discussed the decarbonization of oil & gas operations with the integration of renewables, decarbonization using early leak detection, hydrogen liquefaction (current and future technologies), and hydrogen geological storage in depleted gas reservoirs.
