This presentation is from the 2022 SPE Virtual Workshop: In-Well Fiber-Optic Sensing: Applications for Field Development and Field Management.  

A producing well developed sustained casing pressure in the A-annulus, and as a result, the well was shut-in for 3 years.   Since the well was equipped with permanent fiber for a pressure gauge, an alternative opportunity was taken to detect leak location by repurposing the cable for DAS and pattern recognition techniques. .  DAS flow logs clearly identified the exact location of the leak points and the reasons for the failure of previous remediation methods.  Based on these insights, the remediation strategy succeeded in isolating leak points, and the operator resumed production.
