Digital Twin development for a Greenfield facility starts from the design and engineering phase. It is developed based on staged execution as the 3D engineering model of a plant is developed. Besides 3D, it has 4D/5D BIM capability which has cost as well as schedule dimensions also to control the project more effectively and efficiently and improve the project NPV. Digital Twin and data centric approach brings all the documents and data of the project phase at a centralized place. Moreover, the Digital twin will eliminate any errors, inconsistencies, constraints and bring efficiency for the engineering as well as procurement, fabrication and construction phases of the project. The data analytics plays a great role to get the insight from the past projects data and apply the learning and analytics to improve the current project performance by bringing the real-time performance data from the Digital Twin of various defined KPIs e.g. capex, schedule, man-hours, quality etc.

The Project Digital Twin further becomes the foundation for O&M Digital Twin. O&M Digital Twin houses not only project information, data and documents but also all the operations and maintenance real-time plant operating data and asset management work orders history and it is a ‘Single source of truth’ for the project and asset lifecycle management system. Using O&M Digital Twin, operator can monitor the plant performance and operate & maintain it in an efficient, effective and optimum way from anywhere in the world. O&M Digital Twin with remote operations system and condition based maintenance system improves the production and efficiency of the plant, reduces opex and enhances the uptime. The data analytics including machine learning adds predictive operations & maintenance layer to the physics based models to look the historical data in the O&M Digital Twin and add more value in predicting anomalies and improving the plant performance and uptime while adding more cash flow and NPV for the whole life cycle of the plant.
