In-Service Considerations for FE Compliant Valves

As the pressure to reduce emissions increases for facility operators both from regulatory authorities and investors, a continued emphasis on emissions reduction initiatives is critical. For many facilities, introducing new valves with improved emissions performance is a quick win in reducing fugitive-type emissions. Although this is a highly effective step in the right direction, it is important to understand how to maintain these valves’ emissions performance over the long run. Current industry standards provide a framework for the qualification of fugitive emissions–(FE-)compliant valves but do not currently provide any supplemental requirements for their repair. If repairs are not done properly to return the valve to its original FE-qualified condition, then post repair emissions performance can be impaired. This talk highlights some of the key considerations for ensuring the ongoing FE-qualified performance of facility valve populations.
