Directional data is both ubiquitous and mysterious at the same time. Measured depth, Inclination and Azimuth are consumed by multiple processes and algorithms, many times with little or no understanding of the uncertainty of data and what it actually represents. This SPE Live touches on the basics of survey sensors, their uncertainty, the modelling of the uncertainty, and the quality control.
